How Do we get Toenail Fungus?
Fungus is found ubiquitous throughout our environment. Onychomycosis is caused by a combination of genetic susceptibility, and microtrauma to the nail region. In this type of infection, fungal organisms invade, and penetrate beneath the nail, usually starting at the tip of the nail invading toward the opposite end of the nail. Fungal infections may easily be spread to other family members, by the shedding of fungal elements throughout the household.
